Nevaeh's Bowtique

Ever since the birth of Lainey over 5 years ago I have become obsessed with my girls having the perfect bow to go with every outfit.  I just love bows!  They are so cute and feminine and really do complete an outfit.  In the beginning Lainey's bows were small, simple and usually bought at a chain store. Over time her bows became bigger and more elaborate and there was even a brief period of time where I made her bows (FAIL).  Then around the time Beb was born I discovered boutique bows.  Oh my word boutiques that only make bows, I was in bow Heaven!  Now the girls have way too many bows, they number in the hundreds. And of course most of them we have two of since the girls match more often than not.  Our favorite bows come from a mommy owned and run shop called Nevaeh's Bowtique.  Her bows are amazing, original and made with love!   She can make a bow to match anything from a big sister shirt to a flower girl dress.  Every bow we have ordered from her has been perfect!  She takes such care when making them and they are very well made.  If you are as obsessed with bows as we are (or if you just need one or two) you should head over and check out Nevaeh's Bowtique! Oh and if you need an overload of cuteness sign up for her Bow of the Month Club!  A new and beautiful bow every month that is just perfect for the season!

Tulle Wreath Tutorial

Its time to get Crafty and make a Tulle Wreath!  First we need to gather all our supplies.

You'll need a wreath form.  I used a 10" one that I got from Hobby Lobby but you can use any size that you like.

You'll also need Tulle and something to decorate your wreath with.  For a 10" wreath you will need at least three 12 yard spools. For a bigger wreath like the 14" Autumn wreath you'll need at least 5 spools.
First you will need to cut your Tulle into 18" strips for the 10" wreath or 21" for the 14" wreath.

Then decide on your pattern and start tying the tulle on the wreath.  I tie mine on by folding the tulle in half and placing it over the wreath

Then wrap it around the wreath and pull the ends through the fold.

Pull it tight and continue around the wreath.

Continue adding tulle until you fill your wreath to your desired fullness.

When your wreath is full pick your decoration and hot glue it on.

When it dries pick a spot, hang it up, stand back and admire your super cute and pretty easy tulle wreath!

Chevron

I have fallen in LOVE with all the gorgeous chevron fabrics that are so popular right now.  So when I was at Hobby Lobby looking for fabric to make valances and towels for the kitchen I kept coming back to the chevrons.  I finally settled on the yellow and cream since I wanted something bright and cheery!  So during nap on Sunday I cut them out and just got around to sewing them up yesterday.

I think they turned out super cute and look just perfect in our window above the little herb garden.  Now hopefully tomorrow I can whip up the matching towels!  After that project I do believe I'll head back to Hobby Lobby and pick up the gray and cream chevron for our bedroom.  I'm thinking curtains, valances, a blanket and a few pillows.  All to match the gray paint that I picked out to paint our bedroom furniture :)

Mmmm, rice cereal

Time goes by so fast, I can't believe that Little Man will be 5 months next week.  He is growing up so quickly, just like the girls did.  I swear every time I blink they grow 2 inches and learn something new!  Little man has been a little fussy the last few evenings so we decided that it was time to add some cereal to his nightly feeding.  So today after Lainey got home from school and we all did our chores we decided to hit up Wally world on our way to dance.  We picked up a highchair, spoons, bowls and rice cereal along with some other much needed items like dog food and toilet paper (I swear we go through tp like its candy).  And of course we needed all the feeding supplies because we are starting over with this baby since boys aren't supposed to use pink.  After dance we came home and helped the Army man make dinner which means that the kids played and I supervised while he cooked.

When dinner was ready we all sat down at the table and Little man got his first bite...  I of course had the camera in hand and snapped a couple of pics before I realized that I forgot to put the card in, FAIL!  So this picture is several bites after the first one but its still cute and he loved it.  He ate the whole bowl and did a pretty good job of it too.  The girls loved that he was eating at the table with us and it was a pretty perfect family moment...  That is until Beb got sick all over the table, oh the joys of mommyhood.

Naptime Button Tree

Today was one of those rare days when both my littles took a nap at the same time.  Smile, I just love days like today, I soaked up the quiet and decided to have a little mommy time!  So, what did I do with my two hours... why I got crafty of course :)

I made a button elephant on canvas for the little man's room a couple of weeks ago and fell in love with button art.  So today I decided to add some painting to my buttons.  I followed this tutorial from Busted Button.  I got out my canvas, paint and brushes and got to work.
I started by making a light spot in one corner with the white paint and slowly adding purple to make it darker going toward the far corner.

Then when my purple background was dry I painted on my tree silhouette.  I added branches until I had the look I was going for.  I loved it just like this but my buttons were calling out to me...

I just love my new storage for my growing button collection.  Before the move I had my buttons all mixed together in a baby wipes box, making it a pain to find just the right button.  So now in the new office I have them displayed in cute glass vases on a high shelf out of reach of little hands.  They look so pretty up there and they are just calling to be used!
So I picked out some lime greens and purples to make "leaves" for my tree.  I hot glued them on and tada a button tree was born all in the space of one little nap!

Colorful Fall

I'm not sure why but I have been in love with all things Fall recently.  Maybe its the fact that school has started or that the temperatures here in Oklahoma have started to drop (it no longer hits 100 every day).  Or maybe it could be because of my new love affair with all things Pinterest.  I had alot of free time while we were in the guest house waiting for our house to be ready and I spent much of it pinning all the wonderful things I wanted to do for our new home.  One of those things was a super cute wreath for our front door.  I put it together today and I just love the way it turned out!  I wanted something that would work from now through Thanksgiving and I think this just hits the mark.

It was so simple to make and it really pops on our front door, please excuse the dents and sratches that's Army housing for you.  There are only three supplies needed and they are all available at my favorite store, Hobby Lobby.  To make one of your own you'll need: Tulle, I used five different colors but you can do any combo that you like.  A wreath form and something to decorate it with, I went with coordinating flowers.  Just cut the tulle to length (21") and tie it on the wreath form and then add your decorations when you are done. I'll try to get a tutorial with in depth instructions and step by step pictures up in the next couple of weeks, I think a winter wreath is now on my to do list!

Finally a blogger!

Wow, I am finally taking the plunge and starting a blog!  This is something that I have been contemplating for over a year and today just seemed like the perfect day to get my feet wet.  I'm not sure exactly what direction this blog is going to take but I know it will include some daily life, crafts, ideas and hopefully some inspiration :)
